Stop 1 - Newcastle

After finally leaving Sydney late in the day and with a different car than we left our hostel in, we arrived in our first planned overnight stop, Newcastle. Fortunately there were no dramas in the new car, which purrs like a dream! Ok, so it's no Z4, but hey, it runs....at the moment!

Nothing really to write about Newcastle. There's not a lot here, beaches aren't great and everything closes far too early. Going out for dinner just before 10pm everywhere was shut except for KFC. Unfortunately the claim on the door that KFC stayed open until 1am turned out to be a load of cobblers when we arrived back ready to eat and it had shut early! Cheers Colonel!
